Barbados

- Harrison''s Cave — underground tram tour through stalactite-filled limestone caverns ($40/adult, $20/child 4-12). The cathedral cavern with its waterfall is spectacular
- Bathsheba Beach (east coast) — dramatic rocky coastline, Atlantic waves crashing on mushroom-shaped rock formations. Swimming is dangerous but the rock pools are safe for wading and photos
- Carlisle Bay marine park — free snorkelling over shipwrecks in 4-6m of crystal water. Six wrecks visible, turtles, tropical fish. Bring your own gear or rent ($15/set). Best calm-water snorkel in the Caribbean
- Crane Beach — Barbados'' most famous beach, pink-tinged sand, cliff backdrop. Public access via 98 steps ($5 elevator if staying elsewhere). Gentler waves than the east coast
Local tips
- 💡Stay on the west coast (Platinum Coast) — Holetown, Mullins Bay, or Paynes Bay. The Caribbean Sea side has calm, clear water perfect for family swimming. The east (Atlantic) coast has dramatic scenery but dangerous currents.
- 💡Rent a car for 2 of the 4 days — the island is only 34 km long and driving is left-hand (same as Australia). Exploring Harrison''s Cave, Bathsheba, and Oistins Fish Fry by car is easy and much cheaper than taxis.
- 💡Barbados is more expensive than most Caribbean islands — it''s developed and British-influenced. Budget $100-150/day for a family on food + activities beyond the hotel. The Friday Oistins Fish Fry is the best-value family dinner on the island.
