Family trips to Switzerland

Switzerland is the alpine family destination at its most polished, and also the most expensive European country full stop. The itinerary below covers Zurich (a brief intro), Interlaken (Jungfrau, Lauterbrunnen), and Zermatt (the Matterhorn). Real AUD costs, calibrated for family-of-four. They're meaningfully higher than other European destinations.

When to go: Summer (June-September) for hiking and lake season; winter (December-March) for skiing. Shoulder months are quieter but some lifts close.
