Local tips
- 💡Oman is the ''quiet Middle East'' — more traditional, less flashy, and far less touristy than Dubai. Omanis are famously welcoming to families. The pace is slower and the experiences feel authentic.
- 💡Rent a car for the full 7 days — Oman outside Muscat has no public transport. Roads are excellent, signposted in English, and driving is easy (right-hand drive like continental Europe, not like Australia). Budget $40-60/day for a compact SUV.
- 💡Visit the Grand Mosque FIRST (8am opening, closed by 11am to non-worshippers). It''s Oman''s #1 attraction and the morning light through the stained glass is extraordinary. Dress modestly: long sleeves, long trousers/skirt, women cover hair.
